c5Lab researchers developed studies in Italy

In the last two weeks of July, the researchers from c5Lab, Daniela Spataru, and Maria Gonçalves Vieira, were at ENEA - Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development to conduct studies as part of projects that aim the decarbonization of the cement industry.

The work consisted of experiments with the following objectives: i) converting carbon dioxide (CO2) into methane, through thermal or plasma-assisted processes, and ii) studying the use of calcium oxide (CaO) based sorbents for the sustainable capture of CO2 emissions through Calcium Looping technology.

The work carried out allowed analyzing on a larger scale what is already being researched in the laboratory, with this scale-up being a necessary and important step for the industrial implementation of the projects.
